# Ask Hamming about a test run

# Ask Hamming about a test run

Ask in plain words why a run failed or what changed since the last pass.
Hamming digs through the measurements for you.

## Before you start

- In Computer, sign in to the cloud. Hamming runs there.

## Steps

1. Open **Sessions** in the console, or **Hamming** in Computer's rail, and
   press **New chat**.
2. In the console, press **Add device** and pick the device that ran the test.
Computer attaches this device for you.
3. Ask your question. Name the run by its recipe, unit or time:

   | Ask | Hamming reads |
   |---|---|
   | "Why did the last `unit_accept` run on unit 0042 fail?" | the run's outcome and each measurement against its limit |
   | "What changed in the procedure since the last run that passed?" | the procedure version each run used, side by side |
   | "Which measurement fails most this week?" | every run in the range |
   | "Chart output voltage for that run against its limit." | the channels recorded during the run |

4. Ask follow-ups in the same session, such as "and the run before it?".
   Hamming keeps the context.

## Check it worked

Hamming shows the queries it runs and the rows it gets. It then answers with
the table or chart behind the answer. To keep a chart, press **Save Chart**.
See [Chart a run and pin it to a dashboard](https://phloem.ai/docs/guides/build-a-dashboard/).

> **Tip:** Name the run in your first message. If you only say "plot it",
> Hamming asks which run you mean.
