# Chart a run and pin it to a dashboard

# Chart a run and pin it to a dashboard

Turn a question about a run into a chart your team can open every day.
Hamming writes and checks the query. You keep the chart.

## Before you start

- A session with Hamming. See [Ask Hamming about a test run](https://phloem.ai/docs/guides/ask-hamming-about-a-run/).

## Steps

1. Ask Hamming for the chart. Name the run and what to draw: "chart output
voltage for unit 0042's `unit_accept` run this morning, with its limit".
2. On the chart in the reply, press **Save Chart**.
3. Fill in **Chart Name**. **Description (optional)** can stay empty.
4. Under **Add to Dashboard (optional)**, pick a dashboard. Or press
**+ Create new dashboard** and type its name.
5. Press **Save Chart**. The chart's button changes to **Open**.

To add a chart you saved earlier:

6. In the console, open **Dashboards**, open the dashboard and press **Edit**.
7. Press **Add Chart** and pick the chart. Drag and resize its tile.
8. Press **Save**.

## Check it worked

Open the dashboard from **Dashboards** in the console. The chart is a tile on
it. It also appears under **Charts**.

> **Note:** A dashboard reruns each query every time it opens. A chart of
> "the last run" or "the last 30 days" stays current.
