# Verify that your data is arriving

# Verify that your data is arriving

Check that an input is delivering data. Do this after you add one, or when a
chart goes quiet.

## Steps

1. Open **Inputs** and find the input's row.
2. Read the line under its name. A healthy input shows counts and nothing else:
   `12,480 samples · fresh · ~200 S/s total`.
3. Open the row to list its channels — each one this input has produced.
4. Open **Live**. Type part of a channel's path in the search box on the left.
   Drag the channel into a pane.
5. To check the cloud, click the cloud icon on the input's row.

## Check it worked

The sample count rises, the age reads `fresh`, and the tile on **Live** moves.

If not, the row says why:

| On the row | Means | Do |
|---|---|---|
| `waiting for first data…` | started, nothing has arrived yet | check the device or sender is on |
| `not started` | the input is stopped | **Start** |
| `stopped producing` | data arrived, then stopped | **Retry** |
| `not verified` | the settings have not passed a check | **Retry** |
| `connection failed` | the check could not reach the device | fix the address, then **Retry** |
| `finished` | a recording reached its end | **Start** runs it again |

The cloud icon shows:

| Reads | Means |
|---|---|
| **Up to date with the cloud** | everything captured has synced |
| **Uploading · … queued** | syncing; the amount is still to send |
| **Can't reach cloud · … queued** | kept here until the connection is back |
| **Not signed in — kept here** | sign in to sync |
| **Kept on this computer** | sync is off for this input |

> recorded. Look for it on [Replay](https://phloem.ai/docs/review/replay/), not on **Live**.
