Install
Install Phloem on the computer wired to your hardware. Download it from Downloads in your Phloem account (account.phloem.ai/downloads). No account yet? Sign up free.
macOS
Open the .dmg and drag Phloem to Applications. Apple Silicon only for now.
Windows
Run the .exe installer. It also upgrades an existing install in place.
Upgrades and uninstalls never touch recordings in your user's .phloem folder.
Linux
On Debian and Ubuntu, use the .deb. It adds a launcher, puts phloem on
your PATH, and upgrades with apt.
sudo apt install ./Phloem-<version>-amd64.deb
You can ignore these two lines in apt's output:
Download is performed unsandboxed as root … Permission denied— the package still installed.Skipping the installation of the AppArmor profile— the profile is for Ubuntu 24.04 and later. Phloem runs without it on 22.04.
Upgrading from 0.1.22 or earlier? Those builds used the package name
computer. apt install removes it for you. If you use dpkg -i instead,
remove it first:
sudo apt remove computer
Either way, your recordings and inputs in ~/.phloem are kept.
The AppImage runs without installing, but gets no launcher or dock icon.
Use the .deb on a machine you will keep using.
Updates
Phloem Computer updates itself. Open Settings › Updates and press Check for updates. When one is found, press Download with its version, then Restart to update. Your recordings, inputs and projects are kept.
